The question of “What is the ideal vision and milestones of life, and how should they be set?” is one that many people around us, including U.S. immigrants or second-generation individuals, often ask themselves. Additionally, there is the question of “What vision should we set to succeed?”
In his autobiography ‘Divine Vision and Milestones,’ Dr. David Sohn provides concrete answers to these questions. He explains how he established the vision for his own life and set 10 milestones to achieve that vision. Dr. Sohn details his personal journey of dreaming and achieving the American Dream.
Dr. Sohn, who set his life vision at the age of 30, late in his life, wishes that all students could establish their ideal vision early in life and work towards achieving it through specific milestones.
Milal Mission in Washington (led by Pastor Teak Chung Chung) continues its dedication to serving individuals with disabilities. To encourage reflection on life vision and milestones, the organization conducts the ‘Scholarship Essay Contest’ for volunteers who have served or wish to serve individuals with disabilities. This year, as part of their ongoing indirect mission work, they have received a $10,000 donation from ‘The Sohn Fund (Dr. David Sohn, Mrs. Sohn)’ and will provide scholarships.
Applicants are required to submit an essay titled ‘My Lifetime Vision and Milestones,’ drawing inspiration from Dr. Sohn’s autobiography. Participants can express their emotions based on the electronic version of Dr. Sohn’s book and write about their life goals and how they plan to achieve them.
Through this opportunity, Milal Mission in Washington hopes to emphasize the importance of planning one’s life vision and how crucial it is for volunteer students to encourage and guide disabled individuals to dream. The organization also encourages parents to use this opportunity to evaluate their children’s vision and milestones and support them directly or indirectly in achieving their goals.
Eligibility for participation is granted to all students who have volunteered for Washington Milal Mission up to the present or wish to volunteer as a volunteer for individuals with disabilities from 2024 onwards.
After submitting the application, Participating students will receive a reference regarding the ‘Scholarship Essay Contest’ from Washington Milal Mission.

“Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life.” John 12:24-25
